BPL-The Bangladesh Premier League is the premier domestic T20 cricket tournament in Bangladesh. It was launched in 2012 and has since become one of the most popular and competitive leagues in the world. The BPL features seven franchises, each representing a city or a region of Bangladesh. The franchises are:

The BPL follows a double round-robin format, where each team plays every other team twice in the league stage. The top four teams qualify for the playoffs.

The 10th edition of the BPL is currently underway and is scheduled to conclude on February 18, 2024. The tournament has witnessed some thrilling matches, high-scoring innings, spectacular bowling spells, and nail-biting finishes. Some of the highlights of the tournament so far are:

  • Will Jacks, the English batsman, scored the highest individual score of the tournament, smashing 124 off 66 balls for Khulna Tigers against Dhaka Platoon. He also became the first batsman to score a century in the BPL 2024.

  • Mustafizur Rahman, the Bangladesh left-arm pacer, took the most wickets in the tournament, claiming 19 scalps in 11 matches for Rajshahi Royals. He also bowled the most economical spell of the tournament, conceding only 9 runs in 4 overs and taking 3 wickets against Sylhet Strikers.

  • Sunil Narine,(fastest fifty in bpl) the West Indies all-rounder, played a pivotal role in Comilla Victorians’ title triumph, scoring the fastest fifty of the tournament (13 balls) and taking 3 wickets in the final against Chattogram Challengers. He also won.

  • Mrittunjoy Chowdhury, the Bangladesh young pacer, emerged as the find of the tournament, taking 15 wickets in 8 matches for Durdanto Dhaka. He impressed with his pace, accuracy, and variations, and earned a call-up to the national team for the T20 World Cup.

  • Tamim Iqbal, the Bangladesh veteran opener, scored the most runs in the tournament, amassing 407 runs in 9 matches for Chattogram Challengers. He also scored the most fifties in the tournament (5) and led his team to the final.
